Zhaoying is a first-year PhD student in neuroimaging, primarily supervised by Dr. Lucy Vanes, and co-supervised by Dr. Divyangana Rakesh and Prof. Chiara Nosarti. Her research aim to examine perinatal risk factors to psychotic-like experiences, using neuroimaging techniques. Particularly, her current work focuses on investigating the effect of preterm birth on children’s chances of having psychotic-like experiences using the Brain, Immunity and Psychopathology following very Preterm birth (BIPP) Study dataset.

Prior to starting her PhD, Zhaoying worked as a data manager at the IoPPN, working with large-scale neuroimaging datasets including ENIGMA, PSYSCAN, UKBiobank Mental Health Questionnaire and EU- GEI. She received her MSc in Psychiatric Research from the IoPPN, and BSc in Psychology from University of Surrey.
